YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. — A hydrothermal explosion occurred in the Biscuit Basin area of Yellowstone National Park on Tuesday, July 23, at approximately 10:19 a.m. The explosion sent dozens of tourists running for safety.

The Biscuit Basin area of the park has been closed following the explosion. Park rangers are assessing the damage and will determine when the area can be reopened.
